Ice Nine Kills, Black Veil Brides, Motionless In White (w/ opener We Came As Romans)

Outside the Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri, fans waited patiently in line for the doors to open. By noon, fans had already started to show up for the event. Sitting outside the venue with their friends, playing music, and some even brought games to fill their time. Some fans dressed up as characters from horror movies, while others wore dark, heavy face paint.

Aside from the Saints and Sinners, who got in early, doors finally opened at 6:30 PM for the rest of the crowd. Gathering inside and ready to take their place in front of the stage, waiting for We Came As Romans to start the show.

We Came as Romans

We Came as Romans started the show, opening up with their new song and the title of their newest album, Darkbloom.

Darkbloom is their first album in 5 years and the first album since their co-vocalist Kyle Pavone’s passing. The album having been described as a “bright light in the darkness with the strength of every WCAR album before it”. (KERRANG MAGAZINE) The album is their way to cope with the loss of a bandmate and brother. Dedicating the album to Kyle.

We Came as Romans played a mix of tracks from their newest album, Darkbloom, as well as their 2017 album Cold Like War. Performing their songs, 'Wasted Age', 'Cold Like War', and 'Lost in the Moment' from their 2017 album.

As the band made their way onto the stage, the crowd cheered. Starting with their song 'Darkbloom', the crowd sang along.

“I won't pretend that I can see the end. The light may fade, but I won't wither away.” - Darkbloom

Before performing their next song, 'Lost in the Moment', Dave stopped to talk to the crowd.

“I see a lot of new faces out there, that’s awesome. Thank you for giving us a shot.” Dave said, “For those that don’t know us super well, I’d like to share a bit of our history. And one of the main motivating factors to this day is: a few years ago, our best friend, our bandmate, our brother, Kyle, passed away unexpectedly. And we had the difficult decision of whether or not we were gonna continue carrying this band forward without him. And we decided to because it gives us the opportunity to talk about him every night and play the songs he helped create and keep his spirit alive.” Dave continued, “One of my favorite things to do is talk about my favorite traits about him, my favorite qualities about him. And one of my favorite things will forever be his ability to live in the moments that made him happy. Moments that brought him joy. And I thought that was so inspiring because all were promised is the moment we are living in now. We’re not promised next week, we’re not promised next year. We’re not even promised the next hour. So if you find happiness in what you are enjoying in the moment you are living in, enjoy it to the fullest and let nothing take that away from you.”

The crowd cheered as Dave said, “Let’s honor that.” Adding, “This is one of his favorite songs”, before performing 'Lost in the Moment'.

The crowd sang along with Dave during each chorus.

“I wanna live lost in the moment. With my eyes wide, breathing new life.

I wanna let go of the burden. With my eyes wide for the first time.

Seeing time flying by, it won't stop. 'Cause today's all we got to lean on.

I wanna live lost in the moment” - Lost in the Moment

Ice Nine Kills

As the Halloween theme song played on the speakers, the Ice Nine Kills crew set up the stage with props. Filling the stage with fog and making sure their instruments were ready to go. Before the show began, the fans chanted “Ice Nine Kills” over and over. The lights in the arena went dark, and the screen above the stage read the monologue of Ice Nine Kills opening track, 'Opening Night'.

“The thirteen tracks which you are about to hear were long ago hidden away. Deemed too grotesque for public consumption by the American recording industry. Recently, however, they were unearthed by the homicide unit of the L.A.P.D.

These tracks would soon gain infamy as key evidence allegedly linking Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas to the brutal slaying of his 28-year-old fiancée. Though the original title of this disturbing collection of songs remains unknown, these cuts would forever be remembered as 'Welcome to Horrorwood'"

Ice Nine Kills is an American heavy metal band from Boston, Massachusetts. They are widely known for their Horror Movie styled music. Their albums The Silver Scream and The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood are based on popular horror movies (as well as the hidden gems).

Forming in 2000, formerly known as Ice Nine, but changing it to Ice Nine Kills in 2006. Consisting of 5 members: Vocalist Spencer Charnas, Guitarists Dan Sugarman and Ricky Armellino, Drummer Patrick Galante, and Bassists Joe Occhiuti — as well as touring members Chris Kelly and Chris LaPlante on guitar and touring actors Patrick Gilchrist and Shevy Marie (as well as wardrobe and makeup artist).

Ice Nine Kills played mainly from their 2021 album The Silver Scream 2: Welcome To Horrorwood, with songs like 'Würst Vacation', 'Hip To Be Scared', 'Assault and Batteries', 'The Shower Scene', and 'Funeral Derangements'. As well as songs from their 2018 album The Silver Scream with 'Stabbing in the Dark', 'IT is the End', 'Thank God It’s Friday', and 'The American Nightmare'. Also playing 'Communion of the Cursed' from their 2015 album Every Trick in the Book.

Starting with their song 'Welcome to Horrorwood', fans screamed as Spencer entered through the fog and onto the center of the stage, with the rest of the band following behind. Fans sang along to the lyrics, “Are you misunderstood? Are you more bad than good? Welcome to Horrorwood — Where anyone would kill for a callback.”

Before their next song, 'Würst Vacation', Patrick Gilchrist came out on stage dressed in a butcher's outfit, holding an ax and a butcher's knife. Pointing the butcher's knife out towards the crowd as they cheered.

“Eins, zwei, drei, DIE!”

Patrick later came out again wearing the same outfit, but this time with a goat head on and holding a chainsaw.

“Fräulein, you fell for the bait and switch.

Death is priceless—“ the crowd screamed along; “and I'd make you my bitch!”

Shevy entered the stage to help Spencer put on the butcher's outfit, handing him the butcher's knife. Spencer stepped up to the center platform on the front of the stage, waving the crowd to scream and cheer as Shevy dragged Patrick (Spencer’s victim) to the front of the stage.

“What the fuck is this? Where the fuck am I? Please, please, I'll pay you anything, please let me go,” the monologue played as Spencer walked up to his victim.

“Stupid kid, it's not about the money. You don't like our customs? Then stay in your country. 'Cause on this trip, there are no survivors. And in this club, your life don't mean Scheiße!” Spencer began to “decapitate” his victim as well as “cut off” his arm, holding it to show the crowd as they cheered.

The beat of the drums had fans screaming as their song 'Hip To Be Scared' began.

During the bridge of the song, Patrick Gilchrist came out, portraying a drunk Paul Allen from the movie American Psycho — The song’s adaptation to the movie. Spencer, who portrays Patrick Bateman, comes back out wearing a see-through raincoat while holding an ax.

“Do you like Ice Nine Kills?” Spencer asked.

“Not really,” The crowd yelled back.

“Their early work was a little bit too scene for me, but when The Silver Scream came out, I think they really came into their own. Commercially and artistically.”

Spencer "punches" Patrick, and he falls to the ground

“The whole album has a refined melodic sensibility that really makes it a cut above the rest.” He continued, screaming “HEY PAUL” along with the crowd. Spencer takes his ax and "chops up" Patrick. Holding up his severed head towards the crowd.

For their song 'IT is the End', Shevy came out wearing a yellow raincoat, holding a red balloon and a paper boat, portraying the character of Georgie from the 1990’s horror movie IT. She waved at the crowd in a manner that was childlike. Spencer came through the fog wearing a custom-made Pennywise-themed mask as well as carrying a red clown horn.

“Allow me to introduce myself. They call me the dancing clown, and you must be Georgie. Did you hear my circus was in town?

It seems I have your boat here. The storm blew her off track. Just reach your hands down here and take it, if you really want it back.”

Spencer took the balloon from Shevy and let the balloon go as the crowd sang along, “We all float down... HERE!”.

Before performing their song 'Ex-Morris', they turned the lights down, leaving the venue dark. Out of the blue, fans began clapping, with more and more joining in. Patrick Galante started beating the drums along with the claps, and the lights turned on. Ricky started clapping and then held his hands out as if to ask why they were clapping. Continuing with the drums going along with the beat of the claps. Spencer came out from backstage, and everyone cheered.

Missouri, are you alive out there?” He screamed into the mic. and began with their next song. As the song ended, he screamed, “Well Goddamn Missouri. Thank you!”, and the lights went back off, leaving the crowd cheering for more.

For their song 'The Shower Scene', Shevy comes on stage dressed in a robe with a blonde short-haired wig on. Portraying the character Marion Crane from the 1960’s horror Psycho. Shevy walked behind a transparent backdrop that was brought out, representing a shower curtain. Spencer watched as she “entered the shower”, following behind her with a “knife” “Killing” her as he sang, “You can’t escape the shower scene”.

Ending their set with 'The American Nightmare', which is based on the 80’s horror franchise Nightmare on Elm Street. Spencer wore a glove with knives, similar to Freddy Krueger’s knife hands.

The crowd chanted, “One, two, dreams do come true. Three, four, see you at the morgue. Five, six, he'll get his fix. Seven, eight -“ Screaming along with Spencer, “Now shake the twisted hand of fate!”

Spencer ended the song and screamed “Sweet Dreams Missouri, and the crowd cheered.

“This tour is really special! A triple co-headliner at this level is pretty unheard of, and everyone is having a really good time! I’m honored to get killed twice a night and have really enjoyed getting to know the other bands, especially We Came As Romans!” - Patrick Gilchrist / On Tour with Ice Nine Kills

I know they do soccer here, but it still feels kinda like a hockey arena, so this is a cool fucking moment for me, so thank you so much for coming”. Fans cheered, and he continued, “I’ve got a question for you. Any old-school Black Veil fans we got here?” The fans screamed and raised their hands.

Before Andy could continue, his mic stopped working. Tapping the mic and looking around at the band, Jinxx shrugged. One of the backstage crew ran onstage and handed Andy a new mic. Andy checked to make sure the mic. worked before continuing, and fans cheered. “If it happens again, I’ll just throw it into the ground.” He joked and continued with his conversation, “Whether you’re an old school fan or you’re just seeing us for the first time or you’re annoyed that we’re even on stage right now, whatever the situation is, we wanna say thank you so much for letting us play our songs for you tonight, we appreciate the opportunity.” He continues, “Those of you who have been with us a long time, we know the shit that you’ve had to put up with; being one of Black Veil Brides fans, wearing a Black Veil Brides shirt, going around, people talking shit to you about the bands you listen to. We know about that. We want you to know that wherever you go, we are right behind you, flipping off the motherfuckers giving you shit for what you want to live as. The Crowds Perspective

“It was truly an amazing experience even though I got sick. I was thankful to be there" - Payton Ried

“After seeing both parts of the Trinity of Terror tours in Chicago, and then St Charles, I can easily say that they were by far THE BEST show I have ever got the opportunity to see live!” - Brendan Bebee

"This tour was hands down the best experience I've had at a concert in years. We drove out of state for the first part of the tour and couldn't pass it up when we heard they extended the tour and were coming to our home town. I would go to this tour 1000 times over.” - Kellie Wamser

“The Trinity of Terror has been such an amazing tour to see. Three amazing bands (as well as their openers) giving amazing performances. The theatrics of Ice Nine Kills is outstanding. It’s always awesome to see. The first round of the Trinity of Terror was the first time I got to see MIW and BVB (as well as Lilith). I grew up on BVB and was happy to finally be able to see them. I didn’t know what to expect when seeing MIW as I was new to their music, absolutely killed it. The whole band gives a great performance. INK is something I tell newcomers that they aren’t ready for, they have no clue what they’re getting themselves into when coming to see INK for the first time. I was worried that the second leg of the tour was gonna be too similar to the first, but I’m glad I went and I’m ready to see what they bring for round 3!” - Brandi Lyn
